Through the summer with Ayurveda

Pitta is one of the three doshas (concept of the three vital energies) in Ayurveda and is made up of the elements fire and water. From an Ayurvedic point of view, the warm months in summer are characterized by the Pitta dosha. The warmer it gets, the more Pitta we have in us. This should of course be balanced out. After all, the aim of Ayurveda is to keep the three Dosha forces in balance. As an Ayurveda hotel in Austria, we know this: If pitta dosha is in excess, symptoms such as poor digestion or loss of appetite can become noticeable.

With a few simple tips, you can quickly correct the imbalance.

Summer cuisine in Ayurveda

At 30 degrees, we often lose our appetite and desire for hot food. Many people then think that a salad would be just the thing – light and healthy. However, raw food tends to put a strain on the metabolism. Digestion doesn’t work so well on hot days. It is therefore better to eat steamed vegetables or lukewarm soups. You should also make sure that your drinks are not too cold. The body has to heat all food and drinks to body temperature and that takes a lot of energy.

Our absolute summer tip: Naturdudler, the pure refreshment with water and herbs from your own garden.

Summery, Ayurvedic lifestyle

A balmy summer night can be really nice. But if it affects your sleep, it can be rather tedious. We are very lucky here in Kleinwalsertal: even on hot summer days it cools down pleasantly in the evening. That’s why it’s best to start your hikes or other outdoor activities early in the morning at this time of year, as the temperatures are really pleasant then. From an Ayurvedic point of view, it is generally advisable to take sports activities slowly in summer and to slow down a little.

What could be better than a refreshing dip in the pool? Bathing and swimming outdoors help to cool the body. However, prolonged sunbathing with high UV protection goes against the principles of Ayurveda. But don’t worry, in our beautiful garden you will find many shady spots where you can relax wonderfully.
